Paul Quinn
Senior Associate Consultant
Paul Quinn has over thirty years experience in surface coating technology. Paul graduated from DIT with a Diploma in Applied Physics. Initial employment was in the adhesives field at the Loctite Ireland Ltd, R & D facility in Dublin in 1975. Paul subsequently moved to the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards (IIRS) and specialised initially in inorganic metal finishing technologies. Further study at the Polytechnic of the South Bank led to attainment of professional membership of the Institute of Metal Finishing. Most recent study involved pursuit of an Msc. in Advanced Materials Technology at the University of Surrey. Paul’s areas of interest at IIRS broadened into the wider surface coatings area during successive changes at IIRS through Eolas, then Forbairt and finally Enterprise Ireland. During this time Paul developed a uniquely broad expertise in the relevant technology areas. |  |
Together with colleague; Dr. John Colreavy (Centre Director), Paul was instrumental in the transfer of the Enterprise Ireland Coatings Research Centre to DIT in 2003. The facility is now operating as the Centre for Research in Engineering and Surface Technology (CREST) and is located within the FOCAS Institute. He is currently the Senior Associate Technologist. Paul is a Professional member of the Institute of Metal Finishing and received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. | |
