Dr Brendan Duffy is the CREST Centre Manager, having previously been a Senior Research Manager responsible for Hygiene and Corrosion Control in CREST. After Graduating from DIT Kevin St. with a BSc in Applied Sciences (Physics & Chemistry, Hons 1.1), he completed a PhD entitled “Development of Novel Gas Sensors” at the National Centre for Sensor Research (NCSR) in DCU in 2002 under the supervision of Prof. Dermot Diamond.

Dr Annaik Genson joined the CREST team in January 2014 as R&D Consultancy Manager. As a Senior Materials Engineer, she is currently responsible of business development as part of the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Network. It involves developing research and development consulting services for private companies.

Dr Mohamed Oubaha obtained his PhD degree in Chemistry of Materials from the University of Montpellier II in 2003 on the development of photocurable hybrid organic–inorganic sol–gel materials and their application to the fabrication of photonic devices.

Studied chemistry at the University of Dublin, Trinity College and was awarded a PhD from TCD for work with Prof. John Kelly on the photochemistry of polymer bound ruthenium complexes in 1987.

Paul Quinn is a graduate in applied physics (DIT) and advanced materials technology (University of Surrey). Paul is a professional member of the Institute of Materials Finishing (IMF) at Fellowship grade and received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.

Research Scientist
Paddy joined CREST in September 2013, in the post of Coatings Formulator on the Lazarus project, the aim of which is to formulate paints with a relatively low pigment content, which could result in significant savings for paint manufacturers and suppliers. Paddy is also Quality Manager at CREST, which is accredited to the quality management standard ISO 9001:2008.

Garrett joined CREST in February 2011 having graduated with a first class honours master’s degree in mechanical engineering (ME) from Dublin Institute of Technology Bolton St in September 2010. Previously Garrett garnered work experience as senior project/mechanical engineer in Ireland and New Zealand for Irish and international engineering companies.

Eoin joined Crest in 2017 and is currently working on the Development and Commercialisation of Multifunctional Hybrid Sol-Gel Materials. Eoin graduated in 2016 with a B.A in Medicinal Chemistry (1.1 Hons) from Trinity College Dublin.

Ensar holds a BSc in Chemical Sciences with Medicinal Chemistry (Hon 1.1) which he obtained from Dublin Institute of Technology in 2013 finishing top of his class. During his studies he undertook a six month research project in BAM (Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing) located in Berlin, Germany.

Sankalp Agarwal graduated in 2011 with M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry from Banaras Hindu University, Vanarasi, India. In 2012, he joined as Junior Research fellow in CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CSIR-CCMB) at Hyderabad, India for two years.

Emma MacHugh graduated in 2015 with a BSc in Chemical Sciences and Medicinal Chemistry from Dublin Institute of Technology. While undertaking her degree she completed several projects including a final year project with CREST entitled “Investigation of the role of hybrid sol-gel materials on the optical properties of organic dyes”.

Postgraduate student
I completed a BSc Chemical Science with Medicinal Chemistry course with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Dublin Institute of Technology Kevin St. During my studies, I undertook a seven months’ work placement as QC analyst in Bord na Mona, Newbridge, Co Kildare. My final year project Titled ‘’Detoxification of Hexavalent Chromium by Seaweed Biomass’’.
I joined CRECT group in April 2017 as a postgraduate student under the supervision of Dr Brendan Duffy (CRECT Center Manager) and Dr Ann Hopper (School of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences) on ‘’Developing of Novel Protective Coatings Technology’’.
