Staff / Students - Damian Synnott (PhD Student)

Damian joined the CREST team in September 2007 as a postgraduate research student under the supervision of Dr. Michael Seery of the School of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Dr. Suresh Pillai of CREST. Damian graduated from DIT in 2007 with a BSc (Hons) in Forensic and Environmental Analysis. He carried out his final year project in the FOCAS Institute, DIT investigating the effect of cerium doping on the visible light activity of titanium dioxide where he gained experience in sol-gel synthesis, X-Ray Diffraction and photo-catalytic studies, and is continuing with these themes in his postgraduate work. During his undergraduate studies, he spent seven months working as a Quality Control Analyst for Servier ( Ireland) Industries. Damian is an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
